1Frendys, ȝe shal haue a solempne feste in Holy Chirche of an holy apostle seynt Thomas. And also we redyn that he was a man of herde beleue. As we redyn in the gospel, after the resurrexioun of Criste, that he wolde not beleuyn that Ihesu Cryst dyed on the crosse, he seyde, til he had sen with his ien the place of the wounde
2/f. 86r/ there he was stongen to the hert with a spere. And so after withinne the viiie day of his resurrexioun, Crist himself appered to his dissyples. And so he spake to Thomas and seyde that he had sumwhat to speke with1 him. And theise were his wordes: Inferdigitum huc tuum et manum tuam et mitte in latus meum et uide manus meas et pedes meos et noli esse incredulus set fidelis. And this is to seyn : ‘ƿu Thomas’, seyde Cryste, ‘take me hedyre thinhonde and take thi fyngere and put itinto my syde and se now my hondesand my feet and be ƿu not vnbeleuable but knewe it that it is sothe’, seyde Cryste. And Thomas dede as Cryste bad him and puthis fyngere into Crystes syde and feled his hert. And tho seyde Thomas : ‘O, My Lord and my God!’. Tho seyde Ihesu Cryst to him ayen: ‘Thomas, now ƿu belevest for ƿu hast sen’. And therefore’, seyde Cryste, ‘blessed be thei that beleuen it2 that it is sothe that sen it not with here ien’. And moreouere we fynde in his lyf that he went him into the londe of Ynde to preche Goddes wordes. And so he cam

And there was a womman thereinne that bere a crowne in here honde and songe there with in ebrew tonge. And Thomas vnderstode her songe and wolde not ete therefore. And this was here songe to seyn in latyn: Vnus est Deus ebreorum qui creauit omnia. And this is to seyn : ‘There is on God of Ebrew the whiche hath made al thinge’. And because that she songe that songe, Thomas herkened here and wolde not etyn. And the kynges botelere seyde that there satte a man at the tabel that wolde no mete etyn.
