1Frendys, theise ii apostles, Symon and Iude, be the reuelacioun of the Holy Goste thei went into a londe that was cleped Percidis, and thereinne thei founde ii sorcers, and here names were Yaroes and Arphaxat, that flowen from the face of seynt Mathei the apostle. And so with here sossery thei made men to beleue in hem. And so at the laste, seynt Symon and seynt Iude duelled in the cite of Babilon and there thei dede

And there thei preyed hem to stynten and put the dekyn into sekyre warde tyl the childe were born. ‘For thanne’, seyde thei, ‘we shal wete the sothe for he be gilty or he be not gilty’. And so there thei abadyn and put it in respyte til the childe was born, the oure of pryme, and seyde: ‘Brynge
