1Frendys, ƿe shal haue a solempne feste in Holy Chirche of seynt Luke euangeliste, the whiche was in the cite of Antioche. He was a leche be crafte and a dissyple of the holy apostle ˊPalˋ and eueremore folwynge the doctrine of seynt Poule

And sethe no whi he was called a leche, for he was eueremore ˊconuertyngˋ to men that were not in the right beleue, to teche hem and to preche hem and to brynge hem into perfyt beleue in God. And so he saued hem to come to euerelastynge blisse in heuene. And therefore he was called a leche. And euere he serued God withoutyn eny synne of martirdam and withoutyn eny bodily penaunce, but he dyed as he had slept. And in the cite of Bethanie he was reuerently beryed, and many yeres after he was translated at a place that was called Constantinopolys. And there God wrout many myracles for him: first to the blynde he yaf sight, and to the croked goynge, and to bedrade men that had longe be bedrade thei were brout before him and there thei had here hele. Moreouere, Ezechiel the profete of the first shewynge of the iiii euangelistes whanne thei were in the myddes of the cite, he seith that he shewed hem in the lyknesse of iiii bestys. And the semlaunt of the to[n]1 that stoden on the right half were lyke, he seyde, as it had ben the face of an egel. And that odere as it had ben the face of an ox. And that odere as is had ben the face of a man and the face of a lyon, and thei yede right evene forthe and federd doun to the feet. And the bake, he seyde, as lyke as it had ben ful of ien and thereto, he seyde, thei were eueremore goynge and thei had neueremore reste day ne nyte syngynge theise wordes: Sanctus, sanctus, sanctus, Domine Deus omnipotens, qui est qui erat et qui venturus est. And this is to seyn : ‘ƿu holy God, holy Lord almyty God, the whiche is, the whiche was and the whiche is to come’. And this thei sengen bothe day and nyte.
